NEXR Labs builds the systems the next decade runs on — AI that reasons, machines that move, interfaces that disappear, and the infrastructure holding it all up. Frontier research, shipped as production software.
If it belongs to the next decade, we build it in this one.
Who We Are
Most technology teams pick a side. Research labs produce brilliant papers that never survive contact with real users. Agencies ship fast and hand you something that buckles the moment it scales. NEXR Labs exists to refuse that trade-off.
We are engineers, researchers and designers who work on the frontier and then stay through deployment — the same people who model the problem are the ones who carry the pager. That continuity is the whole product.
The Name
Everyone has an opinion about the future. Very few people are willing to assemble it out of hardware, code and constraints. Our name is a commitment, broken into four letters.
We work a generation ahead of the roadmap — on the capability that becomes obvious to everyone else in three years.
Ideas are cheap. We are judged on latency, uptime, cost per inference, and what happens at 3 a.m. on a bad day.
X is the unknown variable — the hard, unproven module everyone else routes around. That is the piece we take.
A demo is a story. A deployed system is a fact. We only count the second one, and so should you.
Capabilities
Frontier work fails at the seams — between the model and the product, the prototype and the fleet, the demo and the audit. We staff every seam with the same team, so nothing is lost in translation.
Models that earn their keep in production — retrieval systems that cite their sources, agents that act inside your tools with guardrails, and inference stacks tuned to a latency and cost budget you can actually afford.
Interfaces that leave the screen. AR, VR and mixed-reality products where the 3D pipeline, the interaction model and the comfort budget are engineered together rather than bolted on at the end.
Software for machines that touch the physical world. Perception, planning and control validated in simulation, then hardened on real hardware — where friction, latency and failure are not optional extras.
The unglamorous layer everything else stands on. Streaming pipelines, edge deployments and platforms designed to scale quietly — and to cost less next quarter than they do this one.
New technology widens the attack surface. We threat-model AI and autonomous systems specifically — prompt injection, model exfiltration, supply chain — and design zero-trust architecture around them.
For ideas that are still a hunch. A time-boxed sprint ending in a working prototype, a benchmark and an honest recommendation — including "don't build this," when that is the right answer.
Why NEXR
The team that runs discovery writes the production code. Nothing gets thrown over a wall, because there is no wall.
The uncertain part — the model, the controller, the latency budget — is what we scope first, not what we defer.
You see running software inside the first month. Progress is measured in demos on real data, not slides on a roadmap.
Documented, tested, and taught to your team. Our best outcome is a client who no longer needs us day to day.
How We Work
Five stages, one team throughout. Every stage ends in something you can open, run or measure — never just a document.
A short, intense research sprint. We map the problem, the constraints and the technical risk — and tell you plainly what is feasible today.
Ends with: risk map & go / no-goArchitecture and interaction design in parallel. The riskiest assumption gets prototyped first, while it is still cheap to be wrong.
Ends with: architecture & working spikeProduction engineering in two-week increments, on real data from day one. You get a running build every fortnight, not a status update.
Ends with: tested, reviewed systemStaged rollout with observability, alerting and load testing in place before the first real user arrives. We are on call through the ramp.
Ends with: live system & runbooksSystems drift; models more than most. We monitor, retrain and tune cost — and train your team to take the wheel whenever they're ready.
Ends with: handover & support loopSelected Work

The People
Senior by design. Everyone here has shipped systems other people depend on — and everyone here still writes code.
Distributed systems, then robotics. Believes the demo doesn't count.
Multimodal models and evaluation. Allergic to unbenchmarked claims.
Perception and control. Has debugged more hardware than slides.
Spatial interfaces. Designs for the tenth use, not the first.
If you'd rather work on the unsolved part, we should talk — even when nothing matching is posted.
Questions
Tell us about the system you're trying to ship — or the problem you can't stop thinking about. We reply within one business day, and the first conversation costs nothing.
